6th Science

Studets have their work cut out for them this Quarter! They have already completed demonstrations/speeches for 4H. Now, they are putting together projects for the Science Fair. In addition to that, we are studying plate tectonics - the movement of oceanic and continental plates on the earth's surface. Ironically, there has been stark evidence of this action in Haiti this month. Most volcanic and earthquake activity occurs at or near plate boundaries - that is the place where plates meet. Do you know the difference between a convergent, divergent, and transform-fault boundary? Ask anyone from 6B and they will tell you! Check back at the midway point for more updates. Mr. Mauntel

7th GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

Welcome back! 7th Grade has just completed a unit on the U.S. Constitution. The students made posters about the Constitutional Convention and wrote an essay about each one. Moving forward, we will see how the Constitution works today - that is, is it working the way the framers had intended for it to work? The New Republic was to face many challenges: The War of 1812, governing a brand new nation, the Industrial Revolution, the Steamboat Era, and the Civil War. I am hopeful that we can take a couple of field trips as the weather gets a little warmer! Looking forward to the second half. Mr. "M"
